Yamaha XSR155 vs TVS Ronin: Which motorcycle has more power? Know before you buy

Yamaha XSR155 vs TVS Ronin: Both are popular motorcycles in the neo-retro segment. It attracts young riders in terms of style, performance and features. Yamaha XSR155 has recently been launched in India, while TVS Ronin has already made a strong presence in the market. If you want to buy one of these two bikes, then know their price and features.

The ex-showroom price of Yamaha XSR155 ranges from approximately ₹ 1.49 lakh to ₹ 1.50 lakh, which is available in a single variant. On-road prices could reach up to ₹1.73 lakh, including insurance and RTO charges. Whereas, the price of TVS Ronin starts from ₹ 1.25 lakh for the base variant and goes up to ₹ 1.60 lakh. Its on road price goes around ₹ 1.46.

Design

Both the bikes are based on neo-retro design, but there is a difference in style. The design of Yamaha XSR155 is classic and elegant. There are round LED headlamps with semi-circular DRL, teardrop fuel tank, minimalistic bodywork and scrambler-style. It comes in 4 colours. This includes metallic grey, vivid red, greyish green metallic and metallic blue. Seat height is 810mm, which may seem a little high for short riders, but gives a relaxed riding position. The weight of the bike is 137kg, which makes it agile.

At the same time, the design of TVS Ronin is more rugged and scrambler-inspired. It gets a headlamp with T-motif DRL, chunky fuel tank and cruiser-like ergonomics. It is available in 7 color options – Lightning Black, Glacier Silver and Charcoal Amber. The top variants get additional elements like gold-finished USD forks and short flyscreen. Seat height is 795mm, which is more comfortable. Stability is better since the weight is 159-160kg.

Features

Both are modern in terms of features. Yamaha XSR155 has a digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, call/SMS alerts, mobile app, traction control, variable valve actuation (VVA), service due indicator, average fuel economy indicator and USB charging port. It also has passenger backrest and step-up seat, which increases comfort.

TVS Ronin offers more advanced features. It includes voice assist, turn-by-turn navigation, riding modes, ABS modes, distance to empty indicator, gear indicator and optional USB charging with SmartXonnect. The top variants have adjustable preload and gold forks. Both have LED lighting, dual-channel ABS and slipper clutch.

Engine & Performance

Yamaha XSR155 has a 155cc liquid-cooled engine, which produces 18.4 PS power and 14.2 Nm torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. TVS Ronin has a 225.9cc oil-cooled engine, which produces 20.4 PS power and 19.93 Nm torque. It comes with 5-speed.
