Road Safety Campaign 2026: Awareness for safe roads

The objective of road safety is not limited to just following the rules, but it is a common concern and collective responsibility of all of us. Taking this thinking forward, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is continuously strengthening its major public awareness campaign Road Safety Campaign (SSA). Its objective is to make the citizens understand that road safety is not just a legal obligation but our duty towards ourselves, society and nation.

The Road Safety Campaign, which has entered its fourth year, is once again set to raise awareness about road safety and encourage safe behavior across the country. This new phase is starting with the Road Safety Campaign 2026 Telethon, which has been specially designed to connect with the common citizens through meaningful dialogue, creativity, technology and inspiring stories related to real life.

The theme of the 2026 telethon is “From Care to Duty”, which brings out the importance of sensitivity, empathy and respect for every person walking on the road. The core message of this campaign is simple but powerful—when we learn to care for each other, our sense of responsibility automatically increases. Through empathy and awareness this initiative seeks to strengthen road safety as an individual responsibility not only towards other road users, but towards the entire nation.

This year’s campaign is based on four key pillars—Kaida (discipline), Dutva (responsibility), Kavach (security and technology) and Kranti (change).

The Kaida emphasizes on following traffic rules and disciplined behaviour.

Duty gives the message that safe roads are possible only when every citizen fulfills his responsibility.

Kavach reflects the role of technology and innovation in road safety.

The revolution underlines the need for profound change in thinking and behavior.

Together, these four pillars aim to create a culture where road safety is determined not just by better roads, but by awareness, sensitivity and responsible behaviour.

To take this mission of the ministry to the masses, well-known personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Swanand Kirkire, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt and KK Menon are associated with this campaign. At the same time, the popular character Chatori Rajni shows in her interesting and humorous style that even small behavioral changes can play an important role in road safety.

Many eminent personalities from policy, technology and social sectors like Shankar Mahadevan, Alex Kuruvilla, Kamiya Jani, Dr. Elia Jaffer, Vishal Chauhan and Ravin Mirchandani will participate in the 2026 telethon. Through all these discussions, they will take forward the dialogue on mutual responsibility and safe traffic. A special attraction of the program will be the musical presentation by ‘The Anirudh Verma Collective’, which will make the message of road safety effective and memorable through music.

Road Safety Campaign 2026 telethon is a call to every citizen of the country for introspection, participation and taking active steps. This inspires us not to limit road safety to mere rules, but to adopt it as our duty towards our life, family and country.

Come, join this movement and together build safe roads and a safe future for all.
