New Delhi. Bajaj Auto has expanded its Chetak electric scooter range by launching the new Chetak C25, whose ex-showroom price has been kept at Rs 91,399. This is the most affordable model of the Chetak family, which comes with a light and compact design. It has a simple powertrain, but the features of the brand’s electric range have been retained. Compact, lighter and more convenient Chetak C2501 is much slimmer and lighter than its larger variants. Its curb weight is just 108 kg, making it one of the lightest mainstream electric scooters in India. Its seat height is only 763 mm, due to which most people can ride it easily.
How is the design?
Talking about design, the overall look of the scooter is similar to Chetak, but many design elements have been redesigned. It has a new circular LED headlamp, in which the indicators are integrated. The rear section has also been redesigned and has a single unit tail-lamp housing. While color-matched mirrors were available in the older variants, black plastic mirrors have been provided in this one. It also gets premium features like flush-mounted pillion footpegs and parking brake lock. This model is available in 6 colors, which include Bright Red, Yellow, Classic White and Black.
battery and power
2.5kWh battery, hub-mounted motor The C2501 has a 2.5kWh battery pack, which is installed under the floorboard and according to the company, it gives a range of 113 km. For the first time, Bajaj has used a hub-mounted motor in Chetak, which gives continuous power of 1.8kW and peak power of 2.2kW. Its top speed is 55 kmph, which is suitable for city driving and is at par with rivals in the slow-speed EV segment. It takes 2 hours 25 minutes to charge its battery from 0 to 80% with the 750W off-board charger, while it takes 3 hours 45 minutes to fully charge.
New chassis and feature-loaded cabin
New chassis and feature-loaded cabin While the premium Chetak variants get leading-link front suspension, the C2501 gets conventional telescopic forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The front disc brake has been retained, providing good braking performance.
Features
Talking about features, there is no shortage in C2501. It has a color LCD display, which has the facility of call alert, SMS notification and music control through Bluetooth connectivity. It also has hill-hold assist, so that the scooter can easily ride with two people even on climbs up to 19%. Apart from this, two riding modes (Eco and Sport), reverse assist function, USB charging port, front apron cubby and large underseat storage of 25 liters are also provided.
price and competition
Priced at Rs 91,399 (ex-showroom), the Chetak C2501 becomes one of the most affordable electric scooters among major Indian manufacturers and is cheaper than its key rivals. With the launch of C2501, Bajaj has further strengthened its hold in the urban electric mobility segment. It offers a budget-friendly option for first-time EV buyers, while still maintaining the distinctive identity and style of the Chetak name.
