If you want your WhatsApp to be 100% secure, then there are important privacy settings that you should turn on immediately. Know which are those settings and how to turn them on.

WhatsApp is the world’s most popular instant messaging app. It provides end-to-end encryption to keep your conversations secure. But if hackers install malware or viruses in your phone, then your important information related to WhatsApp can be stolen.

To protect the privacy of users, WhatsApp offers many safety features, about which it is very important for you to know. These features are turned off by default and you should turn them on immediately. Let us know about these features.

Hide IP Address: The first setting is to hide your IP address. Hackers can trace your IP address during voice and video calls on WhatsApp, which can reveal your location and identity. To avoid poor call quality, this setting is turned off by default in WhatsApp, but you can turn it on manually.

For this, go to Settings of WhatsApp and select Privacy option. After this scroll down and tap on Advanced option. Here you will see the option of Protect IP address in calls. Toggle it on.

This will ensure that your next call will go through WhatsApp’s servers instead of a direct app-to-app connection. WhatsApp servers will hide your IP address. This may reduce the quality of the call a bit, but the risk of hacking during the call will be reduced manifold.

Turn off Link Preview: The next privacy setting to prevent hacking is to turn off link preview. This setting is also disabled by default. Turning off link preview will prevent any links you send from being previewed. This setting provides another layer of IP address protection.

To turn it on, go to Settings of WhatsApp and select Privacy option. After this scroll down and go to Advanced. Here you will see the option of Disable link previews, which you will have to toggle on.

Turn on Security Notifications: Every contact on WhatsApp is given a unique security code. This security code verifies the identity of the person sending you a message or calling you and ensures that the message is end-to-end encrypted.

If a hacker tries to infiltrate your chat by changing the security code, this setting alerts WhatsApp and sends a notification to the users.

To activate this setting, go to Settings of WhatsApp and open the Account section. Then go to Security notifications and turn on the toggle of Show security notifications on this device. WhatsApp provides excellent security features, but by turning on these settings the chances of hacking become almost zero.
