Is 'OnePlus' packing up its bags from India? What did you say in front of the CEO?

New Delhi. For the last few days, claims and counter-claims have been going on on the internet regarding the world’s leading brand of Android smartphones, ‘OnePlus’. Some international tech portals had claimed in their reports that due to falling sales and increasing integration with Oppo, the existence of OnePlus is in danger and the company is preparing to exit from a big market like India. These news had worried not only the investors but also the millions of users of OnePlus.

On Wednesday, the balloon of these rumors was deflated by OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu himself. He clarified through an official post on X (formerly Twitter) that India is an important market for OnePlus and the company is operating in ‘business as usual’ mode as before.

Where did the spark of rumors start?

The main reason behind the speculations about the closure of OnePlus was a report by ‘Android Headlines’, which claimed that many upcoming projects of OnePlus have been put on hold. The report said that parent company Oppo is now considering running OnePlus only as a ‘sub-series’ instead of an independent brand. Apart from this, the dispute over margins with South Indian retailers last year was also linked to this exit theory.
