Will we be in T20 WC?...Ban captain himself raised questions, ICC's decision will come todayDispute between Bangladesh Cricket Board and BCCI

New Delhi: Even though there are only a few days left for the T20 World Cup to start, Bangladesh’s arrogance is showing no signs of diminishing. Bangladesh Cricket Board is not ready to come to India and play the tournament. Meanwhile, Bangladesh captain Liton Das has admitted that the uncertainty of playing the tournament is making a difference to the team’s preparations. Liton says that till now no player knows which country we will play against or whom we will face.

Liton asked the journalists themselves whether they were sure about Bangladesh’s participation. He asked:

Are you sure we will go to the World Cup? In fact, there is still a lot of time left for the World Cup and we are not even sure whether we will go or not.

After Rangpur Riders’ exit from the Bangladesh Premier League, Liton said, ‘If we knew which teams would be in our group in the World Cup or which countries we would play against, it would have helped. You have seen that we have announced the team, but till now none of the players knows which country we will play against or who we will face. Like me, the whole of Bangladesh is now in uncertainty.

Decision on Bangladesh may come today
However, Liton was also seen saying that the team has enough time to be mentally prepared for the tournament starting from 7th February. At present, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Bangladesh government say that they will not send the team to India, where all Bangladesh’s group stage matches are scheduled. The ICC has not yet issued any official statement on this matter, although a decision is expected by January 21.

BCB vs BCCI dispute continues for three weeks
This deadlock has continued for almost three weeks. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had expressed its concerns on January 4, while the first match of the World Cup is to be held on February 7 and there are three weeks left in it. Bangladesh has to play against West Indies on the first day in Kolkata, where their next two matches will also be played, after which their last group match will be in Mumbai. This controversy started when Kolkata Knight Riders, on the instructions of BCCI, dropped Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL 2026 team. After this, the Bangladesh government banned the telecast of IPL in the country and BCCI wrote a letter to ICC refusing to play T20 World Cup matches in India, on which it has stood since then.
