JioHotstar’s big change: Monthly plan starts at ₹79, different for big screen and mobile, see new rate list
JioHotstar has made a major change in its subscription structure for new users. The streaming platform has now introduced monthly plans, the starting price of which has been kept at only ₹ 79 per month. The company says that the purpose of this step is to reach its content to more and more people and keep pace with the changing viewing habits. This decision has been taken especially keeping in mind the increasing streaming on big screens like smart TVs.
JioHotstar is still offering its three subscription tiers, which include Mobile, Super and Premium. Of these, the Mobile and Super plans are ad-supported, meaning users will see advertisements while watching content.
The price of mobile plan has been kept at ₹79 per month. In this plan, users can watch content only on one mobile device at a time. It offers 720p HD streaming. This plan is also available in quarterly option of ₹149 and annual option of ₹499. However, Hollywood content is not included in this plan. If users want to watch Hollywood movies and shows, they will have to purchase a separate add-on of ₹49 per month. This add-on is also available for ₹129 quarterly and ₹399 annually.
After this comes the Super plan, which costs ₹ 149 per month. In this, users can watch content on two devices simultaneously. This plan supports 1080p Full HD streaming and works on mobile, web as well as living room devices like smart TVs. The quarterly price of Super plan is ₹349 and the annual price is ₹1,099.

The most expensive and premium option is the Premium plan. Its price has been kept at ₹ 299 per month. This plan is especially for family and big screen users. It supports simultaneous streaming of up to four devices, 4K resolution and Dolby Vision.
In this plan, almost the entire content can be watched ad-free, although advertisements will continue in live sports and live shows. The quarterly price of the Premium plan is ₹699 and the annual price is ₹2,199.
