India US Trade Deal: There is great news for Harley-Davidson fans due to the interim trade deal between India and America. With zero import duty, a huge reduction of 20-40% is possible in the prices of premium bikes like Nightster, Sportster S and Pan America. Which model will be how much cheaper and when will the real benefit be available? Know the complete details.

Harley Davidson
India US Trade Deal: Under the recently announced Interim Trade Agreement between India and America, it has been said that import duty on America made cars and bikes will also be reduced to zero. Harley-Davidson is going to get a big benefit from this. This agreement has been announced as a framework in February 2026 and the final signing is expected by March 2026.
The main benefit will be available to bikes with engine capacity of 800cc to 1600cc, where earlier the total import duty was around 40-44% (Basic Customs Duty 40% + Social Welfare Surcharge etc.). Some reports also mention significant reduction or zero duty on bikes with larger engines (above 1600cc), but officially the main focus is on 800-1600cc.
Harley-Davidson bikes will become cheaper!
After the implementation of these changes, the prices of many models of Harley-Davidson may reduce significantly. Before coming to the Indian market, a large part of the duty in the import cost (landed cost) will be removed. However, the ex-showroom price will still include 28% GST, road tax (12-18% depending on the state), insurance and other charges. Therefore the total price reduction can be reduced by 20-40%. Apart from this, it also has to be seen how much the manufacturers pass on the rebate given by the government.
What is the price now?
At present these motorcycles are being sold at the ex-showroom price mentioned below. These prices are including current import duty. There were some price hikes also in 2025. In this, the price of Fat Boy had increased by ₹ 2.13 lakh. Know the current model wise price-
- Nightster (975cc Revolution Max): ₹14.54 lakh (Base), Nightster Special ₹15.38 lakh.
- Sportster S (1252cc): ₹18.05 lakh.
- Pan America 1250 (1252cc, Adventure Touring, Special Variant): ₹24.64 lakh to ₹27.16 lakh.
Expected price after zero import duty
After the reduction in import duty, a large part of the savings (up to 60-80%) is expected to reach the customers. However, no official data has been released yet regarding this. After zero import tax, the possible prices may be as follows-
- Nightster: The new ex-showroom could be in the range of ₹ 9-11 lakh. A reduction of up to ₹4-7 lakh is possible. It competes in the mid-size cruiser segment.
- Sportster S: Its new ex-showroom price can be around ₹ 12-14 lakh. The price may be reduced by ₹ 5-8 lakh. Demand may increase due to its high torque and riding modes.
- Pan America 1250: Its expected price can be up to ₹ 16-20 lakh. After tax reduction, the reduction may be up to ₹ 6-10 lakh. It will become easier to compete with competitors like BMW GS and Ducati Multistrada in the market.
Overall, there could be an effective reduction of 20-40% in the ex-showroom prices of these models. After this the on-road price will also be much lower. However, how much benefit customers will get will depend on stock clearance, currency fluctuations (USD-INR) and Harley-Davidson’s pricing policy. This change will not happen immediately. A reduction in prices will be seen only after the agreement is signed (around March 2026), duty-paid stocks are exhausted and new shipments arrive.
