In which car was Amitabh smuggling with Zeenat Aman in Don? Even today big stars are crazy about this brand
Last Updated:
New Delhi. You must remember Amitabh Bachchan’s blockbuster hit Don. He played double role in this film. Zeenat Aman was also seen with him in this. In this film, Amitabh drove cars of many big brands but people are still crazy about one car. That car was Ford’s Mustang. Now many editions of Mustang have come but the convertible Mustang of 1973 model in Dawn was different.

The 351 cubic inch i.e. 5.8 liter Cleveland V8 engine installed in this car produced 285 to 330 horsepower with a 4 barrel carburetor and that is why it was considered the fastest American muscle car of that era.

In the film, Amitabh Bachchan drove a Mustang with a 4-speed manual top loader gearbox, the shifting sound of which was clearly heard in the chase scenes and gave complete control to the driver.

This Mustang could accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 6.5 to 7 seconds, which was supercar-like performance for 1973.

The top speed of the car went from 201 to 210 kmph, so the high speed shots shown in the film were actually based on the real capability of this car.

It was a fully convertible model in which the soft top could open in seconds and it was shown with open top in most of the scenes in the film.

The wheelbase of the car was 109 inches i.e. about 2.77 meters, while the total length was 189.5 inches, width was 74.1 inches and height was 50.1 inches, which gave it a long, wide and powerful look.

Being a convertible, its weight was around 1600 to 1650 kg, which made it quite stable even at high speed.

The Mach 1 package included a front spoiler, rear ducktail spoiler, black hood scoops, NASA style hood pins and dual exhaust, further enhancing the car’s roaring sound and aggressive look.

In 1971, its price was between 3500 to 4200 US dollars, which as of today is around Rs 25 to 35 lakh, whereas today the price of a good condition Mustang goes from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore.

The number of the Mustang seen in the film was MHX 7475 and it was the original American imported Mustang which is still counted among the most memorable and iconic cars in Bollywood history.
