GST Rate Cut: Tata’s gift before Diwali, prices reduced, cars will be cheaper by up to ₹ 1.45 lakh

GST Rate Cut: Big changes are going to happen in GST from the first day of Navratri i.e. 22nd September. In fact, the GST Council has simplified the tax slabs by removing the rates of 18 percent and 28 percent and implementing only two slabs of 5 percent and 12 percent. With this, many things from soap, small cars to TV can become cheaper. At the same time, before Diwali, the country’s leading auto company Tata Motors has given a big gift to the customers. The company has announced that it will reduce the prices of its passenger cars and SUVs by Rs 65,000 to Rs 1.45 lakh. The new prices will be applicable from September 22, 2025. The company says that this benefit will be fully passed on to the customers.

Which cars are how cheap?

• Tiago (small car) – There will be a price cut of Rs 75,000. This reduction will be on the ex-showroom price of Rs 4,99,990.
• Tigor (small car) – There will be a price cut of Rs 80,000. This reduction will be on the ex-showroom price of Rs 5,99,990.
• Altroz ​​(small car) – There will be a price cut of Rs 1.10 lakh. This reduction will be on the ex-showroom price of Rs 6,89,000.
• Punch (compact SUV) – There will be a price cut of Rs 85,000. This reduction will be on the ex-showroom price of Rs 6,19,990.
• Nexon (compact SUV) – There will be a price cut of Rs 1.55 lakh. This reduction will be on the ex-showroom price of Rs 7,99,990.
• Curve (mid-size SUV) – There will be a price cut of Rs 65,000. This reduction will be on the ex-showroom price of Rs 9,99,990.
• Harrier (Premium SUV) – There will be a price cut of Rs 1.40 lakh. This reduction will be on the ex-showroom price of the base variant at Rs 14,99,990.
• Safari (Premium SUV) – There will be a price cut of Rs 1.45 lakh. This reduction will be on the ex-showroom price of Rs 15,49,990.

New GST system from 22nd September
Petrol/CNG vehicles up to 1200 cc and diesel vehicles up to 1500 cc (up to 4 meters in length) will now attract 18 percent GST, while engines above 1200 cc and vehicles longer than 4 meters will attract 40 percent GST. These new GST rates will be applicable from 22nd September (the first day of Navratri).
