Government will give subsidy if you buy electric vehicle, so much discount will be available on two wheeler and four wheeler, 70 people have taken benefit in Sitamarhi

Sitamarhi. Bihar government has taken a big step towards increasing prices of petrol and diesel, increasing pollution and reducing dependence on fuel. Bihar Electric Vehicle Policy, 2023 has been effectively implemented in the state, which is effective from 2 February 2024. This policy is in line with the EV 30@30 target of the Central Government, under which a target has been set to have 30 percent share of electric vehicles in the total vehicles by the year 2030.

The aim of this initiative is not only to protect the environment but also to provide cheap, sustainable and clean transportation options to the common people. Under the policy, a subsidy of up to Rs 1.50 lakh is being given on the purchase of electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

how much subsidy to whom
The government has made a provision for special incentives to make electric two-wheelers available to the general public. Subsidy at the rate of Rs 5,000 per kilowatt-hour will be given on the first 10 thousand e-two-wheelers purchased and registered in the state. Vehicle owners belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories will get a maximum subsidy of Rs 10,000 per vehicle, while other categories will get a maximum subsidy of Rs 7,500.

The government believes that this will increase the inclination towards electric scooters and bikes among the youth, students and daily commuters, which will reduce fuel expenditure and also reduce pollution.

This provision is for four-wheelers
Attractive provisions have also been made in the policy to promote four-wheeler electric vehicles. A subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kilowatt-hour will be given on the first 1,000 electric cars purchased and registered in the state. In this, a maximum limit of Rs 1.50 lakh has been fixed for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories and a maximum of Rs 1.25 lakh per vehicle for other categories.

The process of applying for subsidy has been kept completely online, so that transparency is maintained. After purchasing and registering the vehicle, beneficiaries can apply through the prescribed portal, where after verification, the amount will be sent directly to the bank account.

So many people have benefited
District Transport Officer Prashant Kumar said that the main objective of this scheme is to motivate people towards electric and hybrid vehicles. He said that so far 70 vehicle owners have been given the benefit of this scheme in Sitamarhi district. Besides, work is also being done to strengthen the charging infrastructure in the district and charging stations will be installed soon.

He said that the electric vehicle policy will not only reduce pollution, but will also create new opportunities for investment and employment as the EV ecosystem develops. Bihar is gradually moving towards clean, green and futuristic transportation.
