FASTag annual pass becomes people’s first choice, sales cross 40 lakh – fastag annual pass sales cross 4 million india


New Delhi. Fastag Annual Pass is getting tremendous response from people in the country. The central government said that in the last few months, more than 40 lakh Fastag annual passes have been sold. Now about 20 percent car drivers are using this annual pass. According to the government, this facility was started from August 15, 2025. Under this, any driver can either cross the toll 200 times for Rs 3,000 or travel for a whole year, whichever is completed first. This pass is valid at 1,159 toll plazas across the country.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that this scheme is proving to be very beneficial for the people traveling on the highway daily. This has not only reduced the cost of travel, but the journey has also become easier and hassle-free.

People are saving money due to annual pass
A person resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana told that he has to travel to Chandigarh often. Earlier, one trip used to cost around Rs 150, but now due to the annual pass, their expenses have come down to around Rs 30 per trip.

The hassle of repeatedly recharging Fastag ends
The government said that the toll cost of this annual pass has already been decided. People do not have to worry about different toll amounts every month and the hassle of recharging Fastag again and again is over.

25 percent reduction in cash payment
According to the ministry, between November 15 and December 10, 2025, more than 15 lakh UPI transactions took place at the toll plaza, the total amount of which was Rs 19.44 crore. During this period, cash payment has decreased by 25 percent, due to which the crowd at toll plazas has reduced and the system has become more transparent.

Toll payment of 98 percent vehicles through Fastag
At present, 98 percent of the vehicles in the country are paying toll through Fastag only. Rest of the vehicles are also gradually connecting to this system. The government is now promoting digital payments by providing easy and cheap facilities to the people instead of fines. Apart from this, the ministry clarified that if a road is being converted from 2 lanes to 4, 6 or more lanes, then till the work is completed, the commuters will have to pay only 50 per cent of the old toll.
