Apple AI Pin without screen! Equipped with camera, microphone, design like AirTag and Siri control, may be launched in 2027
Apple is reportedly working on a completely new type of AI-powered wearable device, which can be launched in the year 2027. According to a report in The Information, this device can be introduced as ‘AI Pin’ and its design will be similar to Apple AirTag, but it will be a little thicker and can be clipped to clothes.
It has been claimed in the report that this AI Pin of Apple will be completely voice-based and no screen will be provided in it. Users will interact with this device through Siri. It will have a body structure made of aluminum and glass, which will give a premium feel.
Talking about the features, two cameras can be given in Apple AI Pin – one standard and the other wide-angle lens. Apart from this, it will have three microphones and one speaker, which will make voice commands and audio response possible. A physical button can also be provided on the side of the device. For charging, it is expected to have magnetic wireless charging support like Apple Watch.
According to the report, Apple can set a production target of around 20 million units for this device, which shows that the company is preparing to adopt it on a large scale. However, the AI Pin concept has not proven completely successful in the past. In the year 2023, a startup company named Humane had launched its AI Pin, but that device flopped badly in the market and the company had to be closed in 2025.
OpenAI will get competition
Apple may also face tough competition from OpenAI in this segment. There are reports that OpenAI is also working on its first AI-powered wearable device, in which former Apple designer Jony Ive is said to be involved. However, that project is also facing technical and privacy related challenges.
Experts believe that the success of Apple AI Pin will largely depend on Siri’s AI capabilities. The recently announced Apple-Google Gemini partnership is expected to bring major improvements to Siri. At present, this device is in the early development stage and it is also possible that Apple may cancel it completely in the future.
