AirTag launched with new Ultra Wideband chip and Apple Watch support
Apple has refreshed its popular tracking device AirTag with new and useful upgrades. The new AirTag looks the same as before, but many changes have been made inside it which make it more effective and reliable than before. This time Apple has especially focused on range and convenience, which will make it easier to find lost things.
New Ultra Wideband chip, more range- The biggest upgrade of this AirTag is its second generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip. With its help, the Precision Finding feature now works at a distance of about 50% more than before. This means that if your keys, bag or any other item is hidden far away or in some corner, it will now be easy to find it. The phone shows you the right direction through visual cues, vibration and voice.
Precision Finding will also be available from Apple Watch- For the first time, Apple has added Apple Watch support for AirTag. Now Precision Finding can be used directly on Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10 and Ultra models. This means that now without taking out the iPhone, you can find your lost thing just from the watch.
Loud speaker- The speaker in the new AirTag is now 50% louder and its sound can be heard at almost double the distance. The new chime sound will help a lot in finding the thing kept in the bag, sofa or drawer.
Find My Network and Privacy- As before, AirTag works on Apple’s Find My network, where nearby Apple devices securely send the location of your item. Apart from this, through the Share Item Location feature, you can now share your location for some time with third parties like airlines, which makes it easier to find lost luggage.
The new AirTag has become smarter, faster and more reliable from within, while its size and design has remained the same, so that even the old accessories can work smoothly.
Price and availability in India
The new AirTag is available in India at the same price as before. The price of a single AirTag has been kept at ₹ 3,790, while a pack of four AirTags will be available for ₹ 12,900. The option of free personalized engraving is also being given on online ordering. The thing to note is that to use the new AirTag, it will be necessary to have an iPhone or iPad running on iOS 26 or iPadOS 26.
