Activa will no longer be seen in Honda showrooms! The company stopped production
New Delhi. The most popular domestic scooter, Honda Activa is now causing trouble for the brand. According to reports, Honda has finally stopped the production of this scooter! What’s happening with Activa? Honda showrooms are not getting new units of Activa, this news is in the headlines. However, the model being talked about here is not the regular petrol model, but the electric variant of Activa.
Why was Activa closed?
Honda launched Activa in February 2025 to compete with Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 and others. Now, just within 6 months of its launch – as per industry reports, production of this model has stopped. The electric variant of Activa was expected to get as popular as the petrol model, but it did not happen. And then Honda had to stop production to save costs. There is not one but many reasons behind this, and the first reason starts with sales.

Since launch, Honda produced a total of 11,168 units of the Activa and QC1 electric scooters. By July, sales of only 5,201 units (of both models) were recorded. Of these, total sales of the electric variant of Activa were only 698 units. Not even 1000 units were sold in 6 months. The result was that Honda decided to stop its production.
Then why didn’t it sell?
Was it that bad? It had better prospects in the Indian market. Despite this, the brand had no concrete plan, nor any strong infrastructure network. After its launch in February, it was initially available for sale in only one city (Bangalore), after a few months it reached Mumbai and Delhi. Apart from the three cities mentioned here, not a single Activa Electric model was seen in Honda showrooms in any other city.
Lack of charging infrastructure
To this end, Honda said that they wanted to be clear on the charging infrastructure before selling the Activa E. The main reason behind this? Activa E owners had to rely on swappable battery stations. There was no other option to charge the battery when it ran out. However, Honda was not able to create the necessary infrastructure – resulting in buyers ignoring the Activa E.
