Vespa is Back! Vintage scooter has arrived in the market, bring it home for just this much money
Vespa has recently launched its new special edition scooter Vespa Officina 8 in India. This model pays tribute to the roots of the Italian brand. This special edition commemorates the historic Officina 8 department of the Piaggio factory in Pontedera, Italy, where the first Vespa was prototyped in the 1940s and patented in 1946. This limited edition scooter is a wonderful blend of heritage, craftsmanship and classic style.
The starting price of Vespa Officina 8 is Rs 1.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). It is available in both 125cc and 150cc variants. The base price of the 125cc variant is Rs 1.34 lakh, while the 150cc variant will carry a slight premium. It is available for sale at select Vespa dealerships. Also, matching helmet is being given standard with the scooter. Apart from this, branded merchandise like top boxes, windbreakers, hoodies, T-shirts, backpacks and key chains are also available.
Design
The design of Officina 8 is completely industrial and retro-inspired. It has a steel body, which is painted in matte metallic blue Officina 8 color. This color was created specifically for this edition, inspired by the tools, machinery and workwear of the original workshop. Metallic rivets, brass and aluminum tones have been used in the design, which give it a unique, functional and crafted look.
It does not look like any ordinary scooter, but looks like a heritage piece. The classic Vespa styling like round headlamps, chrome elements and sleek body lines are retained, but it comes with special edition touches. It comes in single color option, which makes it even more exclusive.
Features
Mechanically, it is similar to the standard Vespa 125 and 150 models. No major changes have been made in it, but being a special edition, some extra touches have been given in it. Standard features include digital-analogue instrument cluster, USB charging port, LED lighting (headlamp, taillight), front disc brake, rear drum brake and ABS (in some variants). The riding posture is comfortable, the seat is wide and the grip is good.
Engine and Performance
Its 125cc variant has a 124.45cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which generates approximately 10.4 hp power and 10.6 Nm torque. Whereas, 150cc has 149.5cc engine, which is more powerful (about 10.8 hp and better torque). Both have BS6-compliant engines, which deliver smooth and refined performance. Transmission is CVT automatic. It is good for both city riding and highway riding. Fuel tank capacity is around 7-8 liters and mileage is around 40-45 KMPL.
