The Avinya series will be built on Tata’s new Generation-3 electric architecture.New Delhi. Tata Motors is now going to make a splash in the field of electric mobility. The company has revealed its ambitious Electric Vehicle (EV) roadmap. Sierra EV and updated Punch EV will be launched next year but the real blast will be made by launching Tata Avinya in the market. This is not just a car, but a new premium electric sub-brand of Tata, which is being prepared to challenge the luxury EV market globally. According to the company’s plan, the much-awaited Sierra.ev and updated Punch.ev will be launched in the market in the first half of 2026. The high-end premium brand will officially launch the first model of Avinya at the end of the year. Tata Aviana will be a great option for customers who want an experience like Tesla or other global luxury brands, but with a trusted Indian brand.
According to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV), this launch is part of Tata’s larger strategy under which five new electric models will be introduced by the financial year 2029-30. Tata has prepared ‘Avinya’ as a flagship i.e. “halo product”. Its aim is to elevate Tata’s image from a mass-market brand to a premium and luxury carmaker.
Tata Avinya was seen in Auto Expo
At the Auto Expo 2025, the company had showcased the Avinya X concept, which was seen in an ‘SUV-Coupe’ avatar. Its design philosophy is completely futuristic. It has signature T-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a closed front grille and vertical headlamps, which give it a distinct identity on the road. It is expected that the range of Tata Aviana will be 500 kilometers.
The interior of Avinya has been kept ‘minimalist’ i.e. simple but very modern. Its cabin gets a dual-tone theme, two-spoke steering wheel and an integrated digital display layout. Earlier, the concept introduced in 2022 had shown bold features like ‘suicide doors’ (rear-hinged doors), which indicate that Tata is ready to break the boundaries of design with this brand. This car has been designed to provide a serene ‘ lounge’ like experience to the passengers.
Global vision and goal of 2030
Tata Motors’ target is not limited to India only. Shailesh Chandra has clarified that after the first Avinya model reaches showrooms by the end of 2026, several derivatives and global variants will be introduced by FY 2030. The company plans to establish presence in every segment by 2030.
The Avinya series will be built on Tata’s new Generation-3 electric architecture, which has been specifically developed only for electric vehicles. This platform will not only ensure long range (more than 500 km) but will also feature ultra-fast charging and autonomous driving features.
