people’s anger
This video is becoming increasingly viral on social media. A user by the name @theprayagtiwari on X (formerly Twitter) has shared this video and demanded to ban Ola electric bikes. In the post he repeated “Ban Ola electric bike” several times, which shows the displeasure of the people.
This post has received thousands of likes and reposts so far. Many users have demanded action from the government in the comments. Users are writing that they don’t know why the government is not taking any action despite so many case reports. Ola Electric has not yet given any official statement on this latest incident. Many users have criticized the company’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal by tagging him. Some users have even called Ola a “fraud company”.
Why is only hail burning?
This is not the first incident. Complaints about fire in Ola electric scooters have come to light many times before. In 2022, the government had investigated the incident of fire in an Ola S1 Pro scooter in Pune. In 2023, during an investigation in Kerala, a defect in the battery was found. Recently in 2025, an Ola scooter caught fire in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. In 2024, a customer set fire to a scooter in the showroom in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, although it was related to the controversy.
These incidents have sparked debate over safety standards in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. Experts say that lithium-ion batteries can catch fire due to overheating, overcharging or poor quality. The main cause of fire in electric scooters is battery related problems. However, the risk can be reduced by taking some precautions.
How to save your e-scooter
First of all, always use the original charger and keep the scooter attended to while charging. Avoid overcharging and unplug immediately when battery is full. Keep the battery away from extreme temperatures, such as exposure to sunlight or near a heater. Get regular maintenance done and stop using the battery if you notice any unusual smell, color change or damage.
Do not buy counterfit or cheap batteries, always use manufacturer approved parts. Keep the scooter away from flammable materials while charging and never charge while sleeping. If fire breaks out, do not pour water, instead use a fire extinguisher or use an Avid fire blanket.
