Virat Kohli has been with this franchise since 2008.
Adar Poonawalla wrote on his X handle, ‘In the coming few months, I will present a strong and competitive bid for RCB, one of the best teams of IPL.’ He did not give any information about the timing or amount of the bid. This process will have to be completed quickly because IPL 2026 is to start from March 26. According to Forbes India, the search for a new owner for RCB, which is worth around $105 million, started in November last year. Adar Poonawala’s net worth, as of October 2024, was estimated at $16.3 billion (Rs 136,000 crore).

RCB can play its home matches outside Bengaluru.

United Spirits bought RCB from its original owner in 2016 after the collapse of Vijay Mallya’s business group. Poonawala’s statement has come at a time when there is talk that RCB may play its home matches outside Bengaluru in IPL 2026.

Pune, Mumbai and Raipur have approached the franchises to host seven home matches. Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Wednesday appealed to the RCB management to keep the home matches in Bengaluru and cited the improvements made in security and facilities at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
