plan against rohit sharma: A conspiracy is being hatched against Rohit, management is looking for an opportunity to oust him.
New Delhi. If we talk about the best ODI openers of all time, then Rohit Sharma’s name will be taken first. Only 8 batsmen have scored more runs than him in 50 over cricket, which includes only 3 openers. Rohit has 3 double centuries in his name in ODI cricket whereas no other batsman could score even two. To put it plainly, Rohit Sharma is a living legend of ODI cricket.
Despite this, discussions regarding his future have intensified in the last few days. After low scores like 26, 24 and 11 in the recent series against New Zealand, some people have started believing that now Yashasvi Jaiswal should be India’s second opener along with Shubman Gill. It is noteworthy that Jaiswal has recently scored his first ODI century against South Africa. However, it cannot be ignored that Rohit was India’s highest run-scorer against Australia and till January 14, he held ICC’s number-1 ranking in ODI cricket. It seems as if people forget great players only after one bad series, as if the memory lasts only for a few moments.
Team management dislikes Rohit!
Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwari expressed displeasure over the treatment being meted out to Rohit Sharma. He believes that respect for Rohit is continuously decreasing. Tiwari is also not happy with the decision of BCCI in which the ODI captaincy was snatched from Rohit. He claims that the team management is deliberately trying to drop Rohit from the team so that he cannot play the 2027 ODI World Cup. Manoj Tiwari said, when the captaincy was snatched from Rohit Sharma, then I felt that some people were just waiting for him to fail. If he had not scored a century in Australia and failed in three matches against New Zealand, there would have been pressure on the selectors to drop him.
What message does it send to remove someone who has won the Champions Trophy as captain? This clearly means that the team management does not want Rohit to go to the ODI World Cup but his performance in Australia and South Africa proved that he is not finished yet. Poor performance in just three matches does not mean that he will fail in future also. A batsman who scores three double centuries should be honoured.
Indian assistant coach’s statements are childish
Manoj Tiwari also appeared angry with the statement of India’s current assistant coach and his former KKR teammate Ryan ten Doeschate. After Rohit Sharma was out for 24 runs in the second ODI against New Zealand, Ryan had said that Rohit is not able to bat as smoothly as before. Ryan ten Doeschate had said, in a short period of time, from the first ODI till now, Rohit has not looked as fluent as he used to be and not being able to play cricket in between the series can become a challenge for him. Responding to this statement, Manoj Tiwari said that such comments can increase mental pressure on the player, especially when he is already struggling to score runs.
Rohit should get respect
Manoj said, with all respect I want to tell Ryan ten Doeschate not to make such statements. You are putting mental pressure on the batsman. If someone from outside says such a thing then it is understandable, but you are part of the support staff. You meet Rohit every day, help him in practice, and then question his form in the media. It is better to remain silent on some things. Just like a batsman learns to leave the ball going outside the off-stump, similarly the support staff should also learn to leave some questions which can harm the mental state of the player.
