Keep money ready! Bajaj preparing to launch new Chetak electric scooter, launch date unveiled
New Delhi. Bajaj Auto is all set to launch the new Chetak electric scooter on 14 January 2026. The new model will see mild design changes and feature upgrades, while the existing battery options will remain intact. The 2026 Bajaj Chetak will get a new horizontal LED tail lamp, which will replace the existing split setup unit. Apart from this, some other cosmetic changes can also be made.
Variants and battery options
Like the existing lineup, the new 2026 Bajaj Chetak may also come with two battery pack options – 3kWh and 3.5kWh – which will deliver a claimed range of 127 km and 153 km respectively.
Four variants in Chetak lineup
Currently, the Chetak lineup consists of four variants – 3001, 3503, 3502 and 3501 – priced at Rs 99,990, Rs 1.02-1.05 lakh, Rs 1.20-1.22 lakh and Rs 1.25-1.27 lakh respectively. While the top speed of the entry-level 3001 variant is 63 kmph, the remaining three variants can offer a maximum speed of 73 kmph.
Key Features
The top variant will get premium features like touchscreen TFT dash, smartphone connectivity, sequential blinkers and front disc brake. Simple dash, simple LCD, hill hold, reverse mode and drum brakes are provided in the base variant. This electric scooter comes with multiple riding modes – Eco and Sport with Techpack. In the Indian market, Chetak competes with models from brands like Ather, TVS, Hero Vida and Ola.
Leader in EV segment
At present, Chetak is the most popular model in the brand’s lineup. Ola, which was once India’s number 1 EV brand, faced difficulties in the Indian market due to the popularity of Chetak and the result was that the company’s market share kept falling. Where once this brand was number 1, now it is facing difficulties in making its place even in the top 5. There is a lot of discussion about the cheap variants of Chetak these days. Buyers are eagerly waiting for it.
