Indian team’s explosive opener Abhishek Sharma made a new record by playing another stormy innings against New Zealand in Nagpur. By scoring 84 runs in 35 balls, he became the fastest batsman to complete 5000 runs in T20. He broke the world record of former West Indies batsman Andre Russell.

He achieved this feat by becoming the fastest batsman to complete 5000 runs in T20 cricket. The 25-year-old left-handed batsman from Amritsar scored 84 runs in just 35 balls against New Zealand at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. During his innings, he hit 5 fours and 8 sixes and with this he also completed 5000 runs in T20 format.
Abhishek Sharma needed 82 runs in the first T20 of India-New Zealand to complete 5000 runs in T20 and he achieved this target in just 33 balls. Before Abhishek, the record of fastest completing 5000 runs in T20 was in the name of West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell. Russell had completed 5000 runs in 2942 balls.

Abhishek Sharma was unlucky to miss out on a century, but his innings of 84 took him to third place in the list of Indian batsmen with the highest individual scores in T20 Internationals against New Zealand. Abhishek crossed the mark of 5000 runs in T20 cricket. He has become only the 131st player in the history of this format to achieve this feat. But what makes him different from everyone else is his speed of scoring runs. Of all the batsmen who have scored 5000 T20 runs, no one has a strike rate higher than Abhishek’s tremendous 172.54, which is a clear proof of his aggressive batting. He achieved this feat in 165 innings, making him the fourth fastest Indian to achieve this feat.

Abhishek batted aggressively from the beginning. India had scored 68 runs for 2 wickets in the first six overs, in which Abhishek contributed 31 runs in just 15 balls. Ishan Kishan’s comeback did not last long and he was out after scoring eight runs, while Sanju Samson also returned to the pavilion after scoring 10 runs. But Abhishek ensured that India’s momentum did not slow down despite the fall of early wickets.
