Kolkata Knight Riders played in the playoffs for the first time in 2011 IPL. But KKR lost the eliminator match to Mumbai by four wickets. However, Kolkata won the IPL title the following year. Kolkata beat Delhi by 18 runs in the first qualifier from second place in the points table.
