Till now, WhatsApp Web was mainly used for messaging, while for calling, users had to depend on mobile or desktop apps. But after the new update, users will be able to make group voice and video calls directly from the web browser. According to the report, the focus of WhatsApp is to ensure that no matter which platform the users are on, they should not feel the lack of essential communication features. This means that you can get almost the same experience on mobile, desktop and web.
However, the situation is not clear yet regarding the number of people participating in the group call. According to WABetaInfo, the participant limit for group calls on WhatsApp Web can be kept low in the initial phase, so that the stability of the call is maintained. While group call support of up to 32 people is currently available on the mobile app, in the web version this limit may be limited to 8 or 16 users initially. The company has not yet given any official confirmation on this.
