New Delhi. You must have heard about radar-based ADAS technology for cars, which has many autonomous driving features that significantly increase the safety of the vehicle. Now similar technology is being introduced for two-wheeler vehicles also, which is called ARAS (Advanced Rider Assistance Systems). Recently we saw this technology in Ultraviolette X-47.

Radar-based ARAS for motorcycles and scooters
Now India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is entering this field. For this, Hero has entered into a strategic partnership with French company Valeo. Both the companies have jointly developed radar-based ARAS technology for motorcycles and scooters. Some proof-of-concepts built by Hero and Valeo were presented at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, USA.

Hero ARAS Features
In recent times, Hero MotoCorp has taken many big steps to bring premium technology for motorcycles and scooters to the common people. In this episode, we saw that Hero has also given cruise control feature in the budget segment 125cc commuter bike Glamor X, whereas earlier this feature was available only in premium bikes.

investment in safety
Similarly, Hero MotoCorp is now investing in safety technology like radar-based ARAS in collaboration with Valeo. Valeo’s radar technology and smart cameras will create a 360-degree security blanket around motorcycles and scooters equipped with these systems.

360 degree safety cover
This 360 degree safety shield will enable several Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) to help the rider. These will include features like forward collision warning, reverse collision warning, distance warning, blind-spot detection and warning, lane change warning and assist. More advanced ARAS features include camera-based pedestrian detection and alerts, as well as traffic sign detection. According to Valeo, these systems and features work with great accuracy even in low light. Some proof-of-concepts created from this partnership were also shown at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, USA.
